Fen Drayton was open for evening school on 29th June, when more than a dozen parents with their children came back to have a look round. We were holding an open evening for parents to find out what their children really do all day: in different rooms parents found out about how we teach Literacy and Maths, what Personal, Social and Health education is all about, how the children in Foundation Stage learn, the huge range of experiences the children get in Art, the latest programs and kit we use in Computing and tried out some of the experiments we do in Science. The children proved to be excellent guides as they explained to their parents what they already knew and tried out some of the activities they will learn about later in their career. Parents commented on how exciting the activities were and what a lot of opportunities the children get in modern primary schools! If you came along and you have some feedback on how the evening went, please get in touch. Also, some parents asked for more information on how we teach calculations in maths. Please look at the calculations policy which is on our policies page via this link
. Thanks to all the staff for setting up all the different areas and for the children and parents who came along.
