We have finally reached the 'end of term' and we can now enjoy some well needed rest. A huge thank you and well done, to all of the children and parents/carers for your dedication, resilience and fantastic work over the last 2 weeks. It has been lovely to receive your emails, photos and work and has helped for us all to feel connected and not so alone when trying to figure out our new way of learning!

I wish you all a safe and restful Easter break and I look forward to hearing from you all. You can fill me in on what you have been up to! Please remember you can still contact me on the class email and via Purplemash.

30.03.20 & Easter Holidays

Dear Maple and Parents,

I hope that you are all well and are looking after each other. Well done, for all the great work you have been doing at home with your parents/carers. It has been lovely to hear what you have been up to from some of you on Purplemash-please keep staying in touch! I hope you all have had a go at Joe Wicks PE lessons-I have completed all of last week and have even convinced Mr Green to have a go too!

In addition to your home learning packs that were sent home, here are some ideas for you to use over the next few weeks:

Purplemash-I have set some English, Maths and Science activities:

English: Use 2Create a story to illustrate and write your own story. What characters will you have in your story? Use 2do: Chocolate Crispy Cake recipe to write a set of instructions for making cakes. Think about what we learnt in English about writing instructions and remember to your use bossy verbs!

Maths: 2do: Bond Bubbles. Practise recalling your number bonds up to 20 with this game!

Science: 2do: Human Senses and Human body Labelling game. Use what we have learnt in Science about the human body to complete these two activities.

  • Write your own poem based on our Poetry Aloud theme, 'Unexpected Guests'. Who will be your unexpected guest in your poem? Once you have decided on your poem, try writing it out as neatly as possible or get an adult to help you. Then you could decorate your poem with some illustrations of what happens in the poem.
  • Continue to practise recalling your phonic sounds at home using the flash cards I gave you. Pick a different sound each day to focus on and have a go at spelling some words containing the sound. Can you challenge yourself to write these into a sentence?
  • Write a recount of your day at home. What have you been up to? Remember to use your capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Maths As a school we follow the White Rose Maths planning. They have created some videos and activities to support Maths learning which will be released on a weekly basis. This weeks work is based on weight and mass (week 1) for Year 1 and Exploring Maths through stories for Reception.

Other activities

  • Make an Easter card
  • Write a letter to a family member or friend and send it in the post
  • Cooking
  • Painting

I wish you and your families all the best during these next few weeks. Please remember to enjoy some quality time together too asides from home learning. I will continue to keep in touch via the website and parents can email me at any times.

Best wishes,

Mrs Green.
